About Rich Media
Rich Media is defined as advertisements with which users can interact (as opposed to solely animation and excluding click-through functionality) in a web page format. These advertisements can be used either singularly or in combination with various technologies, including but not limited to sound, video, or Flash, and with programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, and DHTML. If video is part of rich media units, polite download file weight should adhere to an in-page video limit of 1.2 MB.
ClickTAG implementation
The clickTAG variable is an industry-standard method of tracking Flash creative clicks. Problems with Flash creatives may result from incorrect clickTAG implementation. To troubleshoot this implementation, make sure that:
- The clickTAG was inserted into the FLA file before converting it to SWF file format
- The clickTAG variable is properly implemented in the action of the button: In the getURL() function of the action, make sure to specify the clickthrough URL as 'clickTAG' and the target window as "_blank".
For example: getURL(clickTAG,"_blank")
- The above code should not contain the destination URL; please provide the URL separately with your Flash creative
- The above code supports tracking of HTTP and HTTPS URLs
- Flash creative should use ActionScript 2.0, because
ActionScript 3.0 is not currently compatible with Google Ad Manager
